A radical, fundamentalist church in East Waynesville, North Carolina has thrown out nine members of its flock. Why you ask? Because they voted for John Kerry, that's why! They feel that their tolerant views on homosexuality and abortion goes against the church doctrine so much that it merits expulsion and excommunication. Forty others have already left the church in protest.

I think it's high time these churches have their tax-exempt status revoked. If they want a war on God, let's give it to them.... right in the wallet. They've been pandered for too long while interfering in the political and now personal lives of too many people.
Here's to hoping those poor folks that were booted find a new religious home that isn't so fucked-up in the head.

I agree that churches are getting way to political. However if we start yanking tax-exempt status on these right-wing loonies, other churches that believe in social justice..Unity, black churches, etc. might feel intimidated in the future to advance the cause of tolerance and peace. Rev. MLK movement began in the southern black churches.
In short, the blade is double edged
There's a difference between advancing tolerance and advancing (or obstructing) a particular political candidate through intimidation.
Aye, there's a difference. My point is that sword can be swung back. The people that are in power get to decide where to swing. Right wing loons one adminstration...Unity, black churches, and wicca covens the next. Let's leave Pandora in her box.
That's why we have a separation of Church and State.
